Eduard Kraft Torrent
Eduard Kraft principal research topic is the anatomical and physiological basis of functional recovery processes and the rehabilitation of neurological patients. He is also interested in the neural mechanisms of reasoning, problem solving and executive functions in patients with neurodegenerative disorders, focal lesions and aging. Current studies are focused on reorganization of the representation of cortical and subcortical areas and the effect of interventions in the functional recovery. Another focus is the functional anatomy of executive functions (working memory, problem solving) in neurodegenerative disorders and focal brain lesions.
Research involves patients with stroke, neurodegenerative disorders (e.g. Parkinson´s disease, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), complex regional pain syndrome, but also patients with focal brain lesions (for instance, frontal brain tumors). In 1997–1999 he was granted a Research Fellowship at the NMR Center (now Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging) at the Massachussetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School (Boston), where he spent two years working with Kenneth Kwong and Bruce Jenkins. Eduard Kraft is Member of the German Society of Neurology, of the International Movement Disorders Society and of the Organization for Human Brain Mapping.
Eduard Kraft is consultant neurologist, head of the interdisciplinary pain unit, and principal investigator of the Neuropsychology Unit in the Department of.
“Ed” Kraft, a Senior Level executive, is Technical Adviser, Arnold Engineering Development Center, Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn. He serves as the principal Technical Adviser to the Commander and is the top technical expert for the center in the testing of hardware in aerodynamic, propulsion and space ground test facilities that simulate flight conditions, as well as in developing advanced test techniques, instrumentation and facilities by exploiting current research and applying new technologies. He provides technical leadership in identifying future technical needs and innovative strategies to support advanced test facilities, systems and equipment.
Kraft was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnati and received a master’s degree and Doctor of Philosophy in aerospace engineering from the University of Tennessee. Prior to joining federal civil service, Dr. Kraft held numerous technical and management positions in industry over the last 32 years.
His industry positions include Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Micro Craft, Inc., and Chief Technical Officer of Allied Aerospace Industries, Inc. He is the author and co-author of 44 published papers.
